I had been working in the news media for around 10 years now and leading a sedentary lifestyle. This had caused me gain a lot of weight. After learning about food and nutrition from many friends and the internet I started to diet and now I have lost around 20 pounds. I used to have white rice but I changed to brown rice as 100 grams of brown rice has only 111 calories along with 23 grams of carbohydrates, 2.6 grams of protein and only 0.9% fat. Brown rice also has more fiber and a low glycemic point than white rice.
Beans and Lentils
I included beans and lentils in my diet as beans have 0% fat. Also 100 grams of boiled lentils gave me only 116 calories with 369 mg of potassium, 20 grams of carbohydrates and 9 grams of protein. It also has only 0.4 grams of fat and 0% cholesterol.
Green vegetables are a very healthy additive to any diet and helps with weight loss. Include Basella, Palak, Fenugreek and drumstick leafs in your diet plan. These are also helpful for the normal functions of the body.
Spinach is a low calorie plant and is very important food for diet. If you have 100 grams of spinach you get only 23 calories. It also contains 2.9 grams of protein, 3.6 grams of carbohydrates. It is also a rich source of vitamins and minerals as it includes Vitamin A, D, C, B6, Calcium, and Magnesium. The above mentioned amount of Spinach has only 0.4 grams of fat and 0% cholesterol.
Cucumber and Garlic
Cucumber hydrates the body and its fibers help control body fat levels. It also helps with digestion. Garlic belongs to the onion and chive family and has the same results if eaten. It has vitamin C and magnesium which helps to decrease body fat. Garlic is also useful for the digestive system. Garlic also clears the nervous system and helps in blood circulation. It the best food for diet ever known to man.
Whole grains, Fruits and Vegetables
Everyone knows about the fiber content of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. They are a good food source as they are very low in fat. Whole grains have minerals, proteins, anti-oxidants, vitamins and phyto chemicals. Include low fat vegetables like onions, tomatoes and mushrooms. Also include fruits like lemon, plums, strawberries, grape and watermelon to keep your stomach full. Eats foods that keep your stomach full makes you eat less which in turn will help you lose weight.
Fish is the best source for Omega-3 fatty acids and lean proteins. Include this food item twice or thrice a week to help lose weight. The fish varieties to eat will be sardines, anchovies and mackerel.
