How I Lost Weight in Three Months

I had been working in the news media for around 10 years now and leading a sedentary lifestyle. This had caused me gain a lot of weight. After learning about food and nutrition from many friends and the internet I started to diet and now I have lost around 20 pounds. I will share with you the tips I followed to lose weight and tell you about what I consider the best food for diet.

Brown Rice

I used to have white rice but I changed to brown rice as 100 grams of brown rice has only 111 calories along with 23 grams of carbohydrates, 2.6 grams of protein and only 0.9% fat. Brown rice also has more fiber and a low glycemic point than white rice.

Beans and Lentils

I included beans and lentils in my diet as beans have 0% fat. Also 100 grams of boiled lentils gave me only 116 calories with 369 mg of potassium, 20 grams of carbohydrates and 9 grams of protein. It also has only 0.4 grams of fat and 0% cholesterol.

Leafy vegetables

Green vegetables are a very healthy additive to any diet and helps with weight loss. Include Basella, Palak, Fenugreek and drumstick leafs in your diet plan. These are also helpful for the normal functions of the body.

Spinach is a low calorie plant and is very important food for diet. If you have 100 grams of spinach you get only 23 calories. It also contains 2.9 grams of protein, 3.6 grams of carbohydrates. It is also a rich source of vitamins and minerals as it includes Vitamin A, D, C, B6, Calcium, and Magnesium. The above mentioned amount of Spinach has only 0.4 grams of fat and 0% cholesterol.

Cucumber and Garlic

Cucumber hydrates the body and its fibers help control body fat levels. It also helps with digestion. Garlic belongs to the onion and chive family and has the same results if eaten. It has vitamin C and magnesium which helps to decrease body fat. Garlic is also useful for the digestive system. Garlic also clears the nervous system and helps in blood circulation. It the best food for diet ever known to man.

Whole grains, Fruits and Vegetables

Everyone knows about the fiber content of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. They are a good food source as they are very low in fat. Whole grains have minerals, proteins, anti-oxidants, vitamins and phyto chemicals. Include low fat vegetables like onions, tomatoes and mushrooms. Also include fruits like lemon, plums, strawberries, grape and watermelon to keep your stomach full. Eats foods that keep your stomach full makes you eat less which in turn will help you lose weight.

Fish

Fish is the best source for Omega-3 fatty acids and lean proteins. Include this food item twice or thrice a week to help lose weight. The fish varieties to eat will be sardines, anchovies and mackerel.

My friend is a computer programmer in a software company. He sits in his chair for hours every day and eats pizza and all kinds of junk food. He drives home and then again to work. He never exercised during the last three years he is working in that company. This sedentary lifestyle of his lead to severe weight gain over the years and he became obese.

If you are on a diet you normally eat very bland food and after a few months most people drop the diet and go back to their normal sedentary lives. There are some foods which can help you with your diet and also taste good enough. These types of foods normally make you feel full for longer and help you to not eat for a longer time. There are even some foods which help with your metabolism. My friend included these foods in his diet, exercised a little every day and also consumed less food to lose weight. I am sharing with you a list of food he had and some of those he considers as best food for diet.

Beans

Beans have a lot of protein and fiber. Your body takes time to digest beans and hence you can go longer without eating. Include this in your diet to reduce food consumption.

Soup

Have a broth-based soup before your means which will help you to eat less. Do not put butter or cream in the soup otherwise you will ingest useless fats. The soup can be chunky if necessary and should not be more than 150 calories in a serving.

Dark Chocolate

Milk chocolate has a lot of fat in it. If you feel like having a chocolate have one or two dark chocolate between meals. Studies have shown that people having dark chocolate ate less when they were offered food a few hours later.

Pureed Vegetables

My friend added more vegetables in his diet to cut back on the calories he is eating. You can add or make soups with pureed cauliflower or zucchini to add bulk to your tasty dish. This will cut a lot of calories off your cheat foods.

Eggs and Sausage

My friend used to have a protein-rich breakfast and that helped him resist snack urges throughout the day. In contrast cereals made him hungry after a few hours. Lean protein is the best food for diet as it can make you feel full and also provide the necessary calories.

Nuts

You also need to exercise a little to get good result from your diet. Having handful of nuts like peanuts, almonds, pecans, or walnuts will help you eat less in your meals.

Whole Fruits

Ditch the juices and eat a whole fruit instead to signal the brain that you have eaten something. Whole fruits also have more fiber to make you feel fuller.

Yogurt

Yogurt provides good bacteria for digestion. Though it is not proven to cause weight loss it can help you with good health.

Grapefruit

Grapefruit it s wonder fruit which can help you lose pounds. It is especially true for people who have diabetes along with being obese. If you have grapefruit or the grapefruit juice before each meal you can lose three to four pounds in three months. This mainly helps you feel full and makes you eat less. There are no proven facts that grapefruit itself has any fat burning properties. There are some medications which cannot be used if you are having grapefruit so talk to your doctor about it.

Shop Smart

Remember to shop for as much as possible fresh veggies, fruit, lean protein, and whole grains. These are only a few in the list of best food for diet. Losing weight for a few months is not the target; if you want to stay thin you should make a habit of eating certain foods which can help you with weight loss. There are certain foods which make you feel full always try to have those before meals or include them in your meals to eat the minimum possible.

Obesity is the current pandemic of the world. This problem was first noticed in the western courtiers but now has spread all over the world. Eating more than you need causes your body to store fat and that increases our weight. Sedentary lifestyle without exercise is the main reason for such high amount of fat storage. I am also overweight and after researching about my problem I found out the following facts.

People Most Affected

In the recent times children are at most risk because of heavy fat foods and beverages. Adults are somewhat more responsible and several people do watch what they are eating. Adults who have sedentary lifestyles and do desk jobs are most affected. Garlic is the best food for diet and should be included in our food. Cucumber also has very high fiber content and rehydrates our body. Sometimes we feel hungry after some exercise at that point it is a good idea to have cucumber as it is the best food for diet. Cucumber will make you feel full and reduce your chances of snacking.

Calculations

It is important to know how to measure you are overweight or not. Internationally body mass index calculations have been accepted. Alternatively height and weight standards can also be used. A man with a height of 5 feet and 10 inches should weigh between 72 to 75 kilograms. If you are more than that weight with the same height or less you are overweight. These standards also help you calculate how much weight you need to lose.

Things to Consider

Many things influence our body weight. A person needs to take these in account before calculating how much he should eat and what he should eat. These factors include activity levels, age, gender, health and metabolic rate. Some people have an overactive metabolism and they stay perpetually thin but that is not the case with most of the people. This is not the case with most of the population and they need to work hard to maintain their weight.

Solutions

Though there are diet plans to help you lose weight the best results come only when you add exercise in your regime. I have started running for 3 miles every day and within one month I feel much healthy and lighter on my feet. The best food for diet is exercise and there is no alternative to this. If you do not have a treadmill or park in your area you should join a gym immediately if you want to stay fit.
